Waiting on Wednesday: April 6th

This sounds like the perfect book for me for two reasons: 1. Open about teenagers having sex. I mean, damn, for a while there no one in the world wanted to write teenagers having sex. And yes, not all teens have sex, but a decent amount do and we need to show that. And 2. PRETEND DATING. I love pretend dating like the writers of Dawson's Creek love four syllable words. It is one of my favorite romance tropes. So when I read the description of this novel, I knew I had to have it in my hands as soon as it came out. Unfortunately, I still have to wait two months.

Taylor Simmons is screwed.

Things were hard enough when her single-minded dedication to her studies earned her the reputation of being an Ice Queen, but after getting drunk at a party and waking up next to bad boy surfer Evan McKinley, the entire school seems intent on tearing Taylor down with mockery and gossip.

Desperate to salvage her reputation, Taylor persuades Evan to pretend they’re in a serious romantic relationship. After all, it’s better to be the girl who tames the wild surfer than just another notch on his surfboard.

  2. I agree, teenagers are having sex and I'd rather it be acknowledged -- all the good and the bad of it -- and written about properly. So I am hopeful about this one!

    1. I'm hopeful too! And I really hope that it doesn't do the clichéd fade away if the characters get intimate. I mean, not erotica or anything, but we can be a tad bit more descriptive without it being "obscene."
