I have a tendency to buy books. It's not even a tendency at this point, it's a hobby; an inevitability; an addiction. Whatever you want to call it. I buy books a lot. But less and less in recent years, have I purchased a book that I didn't already know a little bit about. That has come to be for a couple of different reasons: my Goodreads addiction, my previous bookstore job, and book marketing. It's a Publishing/Marketing fact that in the last five years alone, "browsing" has become rare. People go to a bookstore to buy a book they've already decided to buy, not to discover a book they've never heard of.

Nevertheless, here are some books I've bought, relatively recently, on a whim. And this list is a compilation of books I have not read, but I am very excited about. Hopefully, I'll get to them soon.

What are some books that you bought on a whim and loved--or didn't? Or, like me, you just haven't read yet? And have you read any of the books I listed above? Let me know!

  1. You picked up some awesome books on a whim. I bought The Burning Sky on a whim so long ago now and it is still sitting on my shelves, unread. The worst thing is that I have also bought the second and third books, so I really should hurry the hell up and get to it. Great list :) You can check out my post here.

  2. I've only read one of your whim picks: The Burning Sky (which I LOVED, I really need to get the other two books then binge read the whole trilogy)! I have Dear Killer and Maybe One Day, I should read them soon. I've heard good things about The Darkest Corners! That is one that I really want to read. Great list!

    1. I agree--Rushdie looks so good! I haven't read a lot of his stuff, but when I saw this at my local bookstore, I knew I had to have it. Plus, it was signed--so bonus! Thanks for stopping by.
